In 2024, Teeling Whiskey Distillery achieved a notable reduction in energy usage per unit output, decreasing from 7.97 kWh/LPA in 2023 to 7.68 kWh/LPA. This performance exceeded the company’s milestone target by 7.6%, reflecting a strong year of progress in operational energy efficiency.

This improvement was driven by a combination of production adjustments and process optimisation. The distillery also implemented tighter controls on equipment run times and refined cleaning and maintenance schedules to reduce unnecessary energy consumption during non-peak periods.

To support ongoing improvements, Teeling Whiskey Distillery installed a new energy monitoring system in 2024. This system enables more accurate, real-time tracking of energy consumption across different stages of production. While the data analysis

function is still under development, the system has already begun to highlight areas of high usage and potential inefficiencies.

Staff engagement also played a role, with increased awareness and training around energy-saving practices. Operators were encouraged to identify opportunities for efficiency and to report anomalies in energy use, contributing to a more responsive and informed approach to energy management.
